About Us

In 1991, Kalāheo High School was awarded the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Schools Award for academic excellence. This came with a $4000 cash prize. It was decided by faculty and staff to use this as "seed" money to create a non-profit foundation. The Kalāheo High School Foundation was established in 1992.

The foundation first hit the internet in 1994 when alums Steven Loretero and Sandi Schneiderman created the first web page. It was hosted on personal web space owned by Steven. It contained simple information about the foundation, reunions and an email directory of alumni.

In October 2001, the foundation registered the domain kalaheofoundation.org to have a permanent site that would provide information about the foundation. It is also used by the Alumni Association to post reunions and maintain an searchable eRegistry (email directory) of alumni and faculty of Kalāheo High School.

In September 2005, the web site was give a new look. Not only does it continue to offer the same features as before, it now accepts on-line donations, has all the past newsletters and board meeting minutes available for viewing.
