    Lisa attended Kalāheo Hillside Intermediate during its conversion from a middle to high school, graduating in 1977. She credits the home of the Mustangs and internship opportunities there with sparking a lifelong interest in education. She taught special education at Barbers Point Elementary and was a technology coordinator at Kailua Elementary before serving as principal at Kahuku High and Intermediate and, later, Kailua Intermediate. She was also a Complex Area Superintendent in Wai‘anae and Nānākuli and Principal in Residence at the Leadership Institute. She earned a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and is currently the principal of Olomana School in Kailua.

    Retired Kalāheo teacher and librarian, Martha was a member of the original faculty in 1966 when the campus was Kalāheo Hillside Intermediate School, Martha chose to remain during the conversion to Kalāheo High School which started in 1973. She was a Kalaheo English teacher for 23 years and librarian for 20 years. She was involved in many schoolwide programs including curriculum development, accreditation, Honors and Advanced Placement, National Blue Ribbon School nomination, library technology installation, and PTSA. She is a founding member of the Foundation and has served on the board since its inception in 1992.

    Jodi Chatterton Beaty, Ph.D, Treasurer

    A board member since 2008, Jodi Beaty is a graduate of Kalāheo High School Class of '89. After high school, she married and had two children while pursuing careers in accounting, automotive body shop, and appraising before returning to school to become an educator. She has been teaching for over ten years and teaches kindergarten at Mokapu Elementary School. Her affiliations include: Hawaii GOP District 51 Vice Chair, NEA Republican Educators' Caucus Treasurer, and Kailua High School AFJROTC Booster Treasurer.

    Karen Frato-Hildebrant, Director

    In the Spring of 1986, Karen joined the Kalāheo ʻOhana when she completed her student teaching in the area of secondary science. After teaching for 30+ years in Hawaii public schools, she retired from Kailua Intermediate School in 2019. An active PTSA member since 2014, Karen has served as the Project Graduation Coordinator since 2018 when her daughter graduated from Kalāheo High School. She is currently President of the Mustang Athletic Foundation and the Executive Director of the Hawaii Association of Middle Level Education.

    Col. James Shigekane, Director

    Colonel Shigekane graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in May 1992. He completed pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi in 1993 and has served in a variety of operational and diplomatic assignments to include Commands at the Wing, Group, and Squadron levels. He was also the U.S. Air Attaché to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the European Union. Colonel Shigekane is a command pilot and has flown combat and combat support missions in support of Operations Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy State University, and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He was a Distinguished Graduate of the Defense Language Institute, and was awarded a Brevet Superieur Militaire, L’École de Guerre (War College), Paris, France. After retiring from the Air Force with over 29 years of service, the colonel continued his flying career as a pilot for FedEx Express, and is the Director of Business Development, Pacific Region, for Concordant LLC. Colonel Shigekane has been a volunteer Admissions Liaison Officer for the U.S. Air Force Academy since he and his family returned home to Kailua in 2015 where he had graduated from Kalāheo High School in 1988.

    Linda joined the Kalaheo staff in 1992, where she taught English and Advanced Placement Literature for nineteen years. She retired in 2011. Linda was actively involved in several Kalaheo programs including curriculum development, accreditation, grant writing, and Honors and Advanced Placement. She also served as head of the English Department for many years. Linda is the mother of three children, one of whom is a Kalaheo graduate Class of 1997. Stephen played four years of varsity basketball under legendary coach Pete Smith and was one of the starting five who won the 1995 State Basketball Championship.
